Mumbai defeat Maharashtra by innings 18 November 1999
Mumbai: Mumbai defeated once mighty Maharashtra by an innings and 11 runs with a day to spare in the West Zone Ranji Trophy match here yesterday. Maharashtra were dismissed for 142 and 148. The wrecker-in-chief was young left arm spinner Rajesh Pawar who took six for 19 and five for 49. In the second innings, Nilish Kulkarni was also quite unplayable taking five for 44. Mumbai scored 301 in their only innings the highlight being a fighting century by Paras Mhambrey. The former Indian opening bowler hit a timely 117 coming in at 127 for five. After seven wickets had fallen for 139, he and S Kannan added 85 runs from 28 overs to turn the match Mumbai's way. Mhambrey batted 224 minutes, faced 173 balls and hit 16 fours and three sixes. For Maharashtra, Siddiqui took seven wickets for 69 runs. © CricInfo
