Dawn Quaid-i-Azam Trophy: Butt, Mahmood crack centuries for LCC

Lahore, Nov 21: Centuries by opener Fareed Butt (167 not out) and middle-order batsman Tariq Mahmood (101) enabled Lahore City Cricket Association Whites (LCCA) to hit up imposing first innings total of 464 for six declared against WAPDA on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy match at the LCCA ground on Sunday.

By close of the day, WAPDA in their first innings were 28 for one. Opener Adil Nisar fell to paceman Sajid Ali for two. Ali got the wicket for 10 runs. Maqsood Akbar (6) and Tariq Aziz (19) will resume WAPDA's innings on Monday with a daunting task ahead to surpass the formidable total of the rivals in order to get lead.

Fareed Butt resumed at 86 with Mohammed Husain (12) at the total of 197 for two. WAPDA, despite testing eight bowlers, could not bowled out the LCCA Whites who declared the innings half hours after the tea interval at a total of 464 for six in 153 overs.

Fareed Butt smashed 12 fours and stayed at the wicket for 567 minutes. The in form Test discard Mohammed Husain scored 50 with the help of eight boundaries. He batted for 55 minutes. After Husain's departure, Tariq Mahmood came to join Fareed Butt. They, together added fine 159 runs in their 169 minutes lasted fifth wicket stand. Tariq Mahmood plundered 14 fours and batted for 169 to score 101.

Fareed Butt and Faisal Javed (22) were batting when the LCCA's skipper Babar Zaman announced the declaration.

Paceman Irfan-ul-Haq and off-spinner Tariq Aziz took two wickets each for 81 and 35 runs, respectively
