India domestic: Baroda wrest first innings lead 25 November 1999
Baroda's last pair got them the crucial first innings lead in their match against Mumbai at the IPCL Sports Complex ground in Baroda today which ended in a draw. Baroda thus picked up 5 points while Mumbai had to be satisfied with 3. After Baroda was all out for 364 in reply to Mumbai's 335, the Mumbai batsmen, particularly Jatin Paranjpe, took the opportunity to get a useful workout as they finished at 228-2 in a match which had long ceased to be competitive. Baroda resumed at 323-9, still 12 behind and No.s 10 & 11, R Patel (17 not out) and Z Khan (24) extended the innings to 364, a stand of 42, before Nilesh Kulkarni bowled Khan in his 62nd over to finish with 5-116. Paranjpe, who had made a three ball duck in the first innings, restored his lost pride with an unbeaten 116 (185 balls, 12 fours) as Baroda went through the motions with 8 bowlers being used. © CricInfo
