Dawn PCB scrutiny body report due by Jan 30

Lahore, Nov 25: The scrutiny in the associations, affiliated with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will be completed by Jan 30.

Talking to journalists at the Qadhafi Stadium on Thursday, the PCB chairman Dr Zafar Altaf said that the scrutiny committee would finalise its final report by Dec 15 and elections of all the associations were due to be completed by Jan 30.

He said that elections in the associations would be held after every two years and a person could contest for the presidentship only for a maximum of three terms.

He said that the forms for the registration of the clubs would be reprinted.

Thecommitteewould also adopt new ways for the registration of clubs and to give them right of vote.

He said that cricket would be promoted on regional basis and the PCB would provide regional teams sponsorships to run their affairs. Similarly, the PCB also planning to develop cricket at school and college levels as it was necessary to get educated players.

Zafar Altaf said that the PCB was establishing indoor cricket academies at Karachi and Lahore with all necessary facilities and had also acquired the sponsorship. The coaches for these academies would be hired through advertisements, he added. Video coaching method would also be adopted in these academies.

Replying to a question, the chairman said that the board could change some officials who were representing the PCB in the International Cricket Council (ICC). Besides, he added, extra employees of the PCB would be sacked. Replying to another query, he said that criticism on the selection committee was a routine matter as in past the committee, even headed by well-reputed officials had also been criticised.
