Tamil Nadu brush aside Karnataka 28 November 1999
Chasing a mammoth 381 for victory on the final against Tamil Nadu, champions Karnataka could muster only 264. Former India off spinner Ashish Kapoor came good, accounting for 5 of the wickets that fell for 98 runs from 32 overs. He was ably supported by captain Robin Singh and young spinner Vidyuth Sivaramakrishnan who picked up 2 wickets apiece. For Karnataka, A Vijay, VST Naidu and Sunil Joshi notched up half centuries, but that was not enough to take them to safety. Tamil Nadu's victory comes at a time when seven of Karnataka's key players - Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Venkates Prasad, Vijay Bharadwaj, Rahul Dravid. Dodda Ganesh and J Arun Kumar are away on national duty. Similarly Tamil Nadu is without the services of opening batsman Sadagopan Ramesh and opening bowler T Kumaran. © CricInfo
