Australian Cricket Board Chief Executive, Malcolm Speed, strongly backed the Australian players, after the team was linked to comments heard in an effects microphone during the Hobart Test.
"The Australian team’s behaviour and performance has been outstanding. To try and link the players in any way with the comments subsequently acknowledged by Channel 9 as coming from one of its cameramen is extremely disappointing,” said Mr Speed."
"The team has consistently indicated that the comments were unfortunate but that they did not come from a player."
"Channel 9 has fully investigated the matter and a Network employee has admitted that he made these remarks."
"This investigation makes it clear that at no point did any member of the Australian team make this comment."
Mr Speed also confirmed that he had spoken to Queensland fast bowler, Scott Muller this afternoon to ensure that he was aware of the full circumstances surrounding this issue.
"One of the most unfortunate aspects of this matter is that one of Australia’s premier fast bowlers, Scott Muller, has been unduly targeted and hurt."
"I have had a very constructive discussion with him today to make sure that he is fully aware of all the circumstances surrounding this matter and to ensure that the only major thing he is concentrating on is performing in the Pura Milk Cup and getting back into the Australian team."
