Round 5

Limited Overs Rnd 4 v Sutherland

First Grade were beaten on Sunday in the 4th round of the one day games at Caringbah Oval by Sutherland. Batting first Fairfield Liverpool were bowled out for 188 runs off 45.5 overs. Grant Lambert 46 and David Kelley 44 were the best of the batsmen. Sutherland passed Fairfield Liverpool's score with 4 wickets down. John Boulous 2 for 38 and Ryan Snape 1 for 27 bowled well with Anthony Clark finishing with 0 for 29 off his 10 overs.

Week 1

First Grade

First grade won the toss and batted first scoring 275 runs. Fairfield Liverpool lost two early wickets but recovered to be 2 for 103 runs at lunch and at tea 6 for 145 losing 4 wickets in the second session. A good partnership of 102 runs between David Kelley 130 runs and Don Nash 64 rescued the team and help post a healthy total. David Kelley batted superbly for is 130 coming in when the score was 2 for 11, and when finally out the score was 254 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Fairfield Liverpool opening bowlers Don Nash and Grant Lambert have put Fairfield in an handy position to win the match when they both took 2 wickets a piece in their opening spell. Spinner Anthony Clark took another 2 wickets to have Campbelltown reeling at 6 for 32 at stumps.

Week 2

Fairfield Liverpool won four of its five matches against Campbelltown with two outrights. This was the best result for the season so far with a total of 128 Club Championship points for the round.

Fairfield Liverpool First Grade beat Campbelltown outright. Campbelltown were bowled out for 71 in there first innings losing 4 wickets for 39 in the morning session. Opening fast bowler Don Nash took the four wickets to fall finishing with 6 for 21. Grant Lambert and Anthony Clark both finished with the figures of 2 for 22. Campbelltown in their second innings were bowled out for 191 runs. Ben Sawyer was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 20 and Anthony Clark also bowled well for his 4 for 53 off 31 overs. This was the teams second win of the season and the first outright by a Fairfield Liverpool First Grade team.

Second Grade

Second Grade are well placed for victory set up by a big first innings total of 294 runs all out. Captain Brett Lack again took the batting honours with 98 runs from 96 balls. Pat Richards also batted well scoring a well earned 47. Campbelltown are 3 for 46 runs at stumps following an excellent spell of bowling by fast bowler Pat Richards finishing the day with 2 for 10 with Mitchell Yearsley 1 for 13.

Second Grade won their first game of the season. Campbelltown were bowled out for 159 in their first innings 135 runs short of Fairfield Liverpool's first innings total of 294. Spin bowler Mitchell Yearsley finished with for 4 for 32 and Pat Richards 3 for 31. Campbelltown in their second innings after following on were 6 for 150 with Shaun Perris 2 for 14 and Paul Cotter 1 for 15 the pick of the bowlers.

Third Grade

Third Grade will need early wickets to have any chance for victory defending 154 first innings runs. Best of the batsmen was Brad Hunt 45 and Ben Mortimer 27. Campbelltown were 1 for 52 at stumps with Mick Collins 1 for 15 off 13 overs taking the only wicket.

Third Grade lost outright after Campbelltown lost only 3 wickets scoring the required 33 runs needed for victory in their second innings. Campbelltown finished 228 all out in there first innings with Billy York, Andrew Stassen, Mick Collins and Mark Nickl taking 2 wickets each. Fairfield Liverpool were bowled out for 106 in the second innings with captain Richard Gerdes top scoring with 40 runs. Spin bowler Steven Stassen took the 3 wickets for 2 runs in Campbelltown's second innings.

Fourth Grade

Fourth grade will also need to bowl well defending a low first innings total of 142 runs with Campbelltown in reply 4 for 38. The batting honours went to Patrick Weisner 52 and Jason Krejza 48. Opening bowler Mark Taylor finished the day with the excellent figures of 3 for 10.

Fourth Grade won their match bowling Campbelltown out for 132 10 runs short of Fairfield Liverpool's total. Chris Oliver took 5 for 30 and Mark Taylor 4 for 40. Fairfield Liverpool batted again and were 4 for 115 in their second innings with Shamus Coe 52 and Jason Krejza 24 not out.

Fifth Grade

Fifth grade have already earned first innings points bowling Campbelltown out for 112 runs and finishing the day 4 for 143. David Lewis 5 for 42 and Peter Bastow 2 for 15 were the pick of the bowlers with Captain Jason Gynn taking 2 for 24. Opening batsmen Matt Harivel 19 and Terry Kennedy 61 batted well laying the foundation of the first innings win. At stumps Adrian Preszenko remained 37 not out.

Fifth Grade won outright scoring the required 50 runs in there second innings for victory. Campbelltown were bowled out for 108 in their second innings. Clint Indrele 4 for 56 and David Lewis 3 for 34 were the best bowlers. Fairfield Liverpool lost two wickets in scoring the required runs with David Lewis 22 and Terry Kennedy 18 not out the best of the batsmen.

The Advance Leader round 5 Player of the round against Campbelltown was David Kelley who scored 130 runs in First Grades outright win.
