Round 6

Limited Overs Rnd 5 v Sydney University

Sydney University were too strong for Fairfield Liverpool in their one day game on Sunday the 28th at Rosedale Oval. Sydney University won the toss and batted first and were 3 for 250 off their 50 overs. Fairfield Liverpool in reply could only manage 105 all out. Ryan Snape 2 for 47 and Grant Lambert 1 for 43 were the wicket takers. Grant Lambert 27 and Keith Greenbank 18 were the best of the batsmen.

Fairfield Liverpool v Petersham Marrickville

First Grade

Week 1

Petersham won the toss and elected to bat first. Petersham were all out for 159 with Pat Richards taking 3 for 39 with an excellent spell of fast bowling. John Boulous took 2 for 29 off 12 overs with Grant lambert and Anthony Clark both also taking two wickets. Fairfield Liverpool was 3 for 90 at stumps after losing both openers with only 12 runs on the board. David Kelley 42 not out and Anthony Clark 23 not out batted well and will need to survive the early overs next week to set up first innings points.

Week 2

Fairfield Liverpool First Grade won its fourth game of the season beating Petersham at Rosedale Oval on Saturday. Resuming at 3 for 90 David Kelley and Anthony Clark put on 191 runs for the 4th wicket partnership a new club record when David Kelley was out for 119. This was David's second century of the season with Anthony Clark out for 84. Fairfield Liverpool declared 7 for 263 with a 104 run lead. In their second innings Petersham finished 5 for 146 but at one stage were in trouble at 5 for 59 before an unbeaten partnership of 88 for the 6th wicket. Grant Lambert 4 for 39 and Don Nash 1 for 54 were the wicket takers.

Next round Fairfield Liverpool play Balmain in round 7 with First Grade at Rosedale, Second Grade at Drummoyne, Third Grade at Fairfield Oval, Fourth Grade at Ryde and Fifth grade at Cabramatta.

Second Grade

Second Grade are on top in their game dismissing Petersham for 148 runs and finishing the day at 5 for 147 at stumps. Best of the bowlers was Gerard Johnson with 4 for 55 and Mitchell Yearsley 2 for 24. Shaun Perris 40 and Ben Rohrer 57 not out were the best of the batsmen.

Second Grade declared 9 for 288 after resuming 5 for 147 a lead of 140 runs on the first innings. Petersham were 8 for 171 in their second innings when play was stopped. Ben Rohrer 74 and Pat Richards 70 were the best of the batsmen. In Petersham's second innings Paul Cotter 3 for 35 and Jason Coleman 2 for 8 bowled well.

Third Grade

Third Grade did not play as Fairfield Oval and Don Dawson was not available for play as the Fairfield Council grounds staff were on strike. Next week these games will be 120 over games if the grounds are available.

Third grade won their first game of the season when they declared 8 for 213 and then bowled Petersham out for 120. Ben Mortimer top scored with 57 while Brad Hunt 39 and Richard Gerdes 33 batted well. Mick Collins 3 for 10 and Billy York 2 for 20 were the best of the bowlers.

Fourth Grade

Fourth Grade won the toss and sent Petersham in to bat. Petersham were all out for 206 with opening bowler Chris Oliver taking 5 for 47 off 25 overs. Rob Steward also bowled well with 2 for 40. Fairfield will need to bat well next week to win.

Fourth Grade lost by 2 runs in a close contest when they were bowled out for 207. Rob Stuart 51 and Adrian Clancy 34 were the best of the batsmen. Fifth Grade

Fifth Grade did not play as Fairfield Oval and Don Dawson was not available for play as the Fairfield Council grounds staff were on strike. Next week these games will be 120 over games if the grounds are available.

Fifth Grade lost when they were all out for 137 falling 16 runs short of Petersham's total of 153. Jason Gynn 4 for 38 and Clint Indrele 2 for 29 were the pick of the bowlers. Hoe Le 23, Matt Harivel 22 and Micheal Pickham batted well.

The Advance Leader Player for round 6 was Chris Oliver with the excellent figures of 5 for 47 off 25 overs. This was the second match in a row were Chris has taken 5 wickets.
