Scott Muller profile
Warwick Torrens - 4 November 1999
Scott Andrew MULLER was born at the Royal Women's Hospital, Herston on 11 July 1971. He was educated at The Southport School, and at University of Queensland. He played in the First XI at school and in 1987-88 was a member of the Queensland Under 17 team for the National Under 17 Championships played at Launceston.
He played club cricket on the Gold Coast and in 1988-89 and 1989-90 with University in the Brisbane competition, all in first grade, capturing 38 wickets at 22.10 apiece. In 1990-91 he was a member of the Gold Coast team in their initial season in the QCA Grade competition and gained selection in the Queensland team for one Sheffield Shield match and, at the end of the season, was a member of the Queensland team for the two one-day matches against Australia Country in Townsville. He also represented Queensland Colts in the Sydney Gregory Cup match scoring 61 of a seventh wicket partnership of 99 with TJ Dixon as his partner, and followed with figures of two for 57 in the New South Wales Colts first innings.
He again appeared for Queensland Colts in the rain affected match at St Lucia in 1991-92 but failed to capture a wicket and did not bat. From this point his cricket faded somewhat and he even dropped back to Second Grade for some games. He played a season with Wynnum-Manly in 1992-93 with little success, his ten first grade wickets costing in excess of forty apiece. For the 1993-94 season he returned to Gold Coast and has played for them to date. He returned to the Queensland team in 1996-97 but has not been able to retain a permanent spot in the eleven, though injury has at times prevented him being available.
At the commencement of the 1999-00 season he travelled to Sri Lanka as a replacement in the Australian team for the injured Jason Gillespie. Unfortunately after playing successfully in one match he was injured at training and had to return home. But he quickly regained his fitness and, after a good performance in the opening Sheffield Shield match of the season, has now been selected in the Australian team for the first Test match against Pakistan.
