Paul Nixon signs for Kent Kent CCC Press Release - 25 October 1999
Kent County Cricket Club today confirmed that Paul Nixon has signed a three-year contract with the Club. Commenting on Nixon’s decision, John Wright, Kent’s Coach, said: “Everyone at Kent is delighted that Paul has agreed to join us. We have been looking at our wicket-keeping options for a little while as part of our succession planning. Paul’s availability has given us an immediate opportunity to provide a long-term solution. Paul believes that joining Kent gives him the opportunity to fulfil his ambitions in winning an England cap and he is keen to uphold Kent’s longstanding wicket-keeping traditions.” Nixon returned recently from honeymoon and is looking forward to the opportunity of playing for Kent next season. On signing he said: “Joining Kent is a very exciting development for me. Kent’s reputation for producing England wicket-keepers is legendary. Playing for Leicestershire has been a great experience but I am now looking forward to the new challenges at Kent. Matthew Fleming and John Wright are building a squad with genuine chances of winning trophies. I hope I can play my part in achieving success for the County and also fulfil my ultimate ambition of playing for England.” For further information please contact: Paul Millman, Chief Executive, or John Wright, Cricket Coach
