Alan Mullally signs three-year contract

Alan Mullally the England left arm fast bowler, has signed a three year contract for Hampshire. Brian Ford the Club Chairman introduced Alan, alongside Hampshire captain Robin Smith, and invited him to sign his contract in front of a large gathering of National, Local press and photographers. Ford addressed the meeting welcomed back the bowler, after a 12 year absence. (He played just one first-class match for Hampshire at Oxford University in 1988). "Alan adds the cutting edge to the Hampshire attack for next season, alongside Shane Warne we are looking forward to some exciting times ahead, as Hampshire prepare to move to their new ground in 2001". said Mr.Ford.
Robin Smith looked forward to working with Alan again, they have remained firm friends since he first came over from Australia, despite the fact that Alan got him out most times when Hampshire met Leicestershire.
Mullally, when questioned said how much he was looking forward to his return, the negotiations were very smooth and amicable, and agreed quickly. "I even turned down a benefit to join Hampshire, no other counties were considered", said Mullally. "I am really looking forward to the months ahead, I want to do well for England in South Africa, then return and win some trophies here in Hampshire".
