Three of Hampshire's young cricketers have been selected for the British Universities tour to South Africa from 26th November to 14th December.

Right arm seam bowler Simon Francis (formally of Durham University, now at Bournemouth), Slow left arm bowler Charles van der Gucht (Bristol University) and All-Rounder James Hamblin (Bristol University).

All three have come through the ranks of the county colts system, Francis having already played a number of first team matches, van der Gucht impressed during the Hampshire Cricket Board's Nat-West match against Glamorgan, winning the Man of the Match award. Hamblin impressed during this past season topping the Second XI Championship bowling averages with 42 wickets.
