Kiwis go for some Greased Lightning Katrina Keenan - 7 December 2000
Thursday 7 December An early start to the day for Haidee, Emily D and I in the gym. This was followed by poached eggs and baked beans on toast – prepared by myself in Pavilion 2. Once the word got around that there were some poached eggs happening Deb Hockley gate crashed the breakfast – (we like eggs!) We had a light training early this afternoon and this was followed by a session in the pool that was quite good fun. Initially the focus was on recovery, lengths, stretching and drills but this soon turned into a competitive netball game with a medicine ball as the projectile – not the easiest thing to catch when your at the deep end. There was a fleeting visit to the dining hall for some turkey in a bun before I headed back to Pavilion 2 to prepare for this evening's Movie Night – what a laugh! The social committee (Deb, Paula, Bill Tiffen and I) were in fine form with indoor grandstand seating, fire exits, ice cream in a cone, pop corn (with or without butter) and specially printed tickets. There was a bit of pre movie entertainment provided by Bill and I before we quickly moved on to the Main Feature which was the old classic "Grease" - and can you believe it Dot (Catherine Campbell) had never seen it before!!! That is almost unbelievable! A quite day planned tomorrow with a light training expected in preparation for our match against India on Saturday.
