Goals take on a whole new meaning Katrina Keenan - 13 December 2000
Wednesday 13 December It was a relatively quiet day for the Clear White Ferns. After a session at the gym this morning we then headed out to Burnham for a fielding session followed by a short net. We changed tack with the warm-up opting for a game of soccer. With a number of current soccer players in the team it was destined to be extremely competitive. I foolishly opted to be in the goal and received a pummelling from Rollsy (an ex-New Zealand soccer player) at point blank range. With no off sides and a number of three-on-one challenges I saved face by pulling off a number of stunning saves (well I thought so anyway). There is a rumour going around that some of the more confident players in the side have challenged the English team to a match. I wonder if our girls will require my services…after today I'm sure I'll get the call up. Well, not much to report for the rest of the afternoon. It was a scorching hot day so I chose to take refuge in doors, in the shade. After a team meeting at 6pm and dinner, people have retreated to their rooms to get organised for tomorrow's game against England. © CricInfo
