Counties back ECB on 2001 budget ECB media release - 14 December 2000
The First Class Forum today gave approval by overwhelming majority to the ECB budget for 2001. There will be a 5% increase in payments to the First Class Counties for 2001, meaning each county will receive in the region of £1.275m Tim Lamb, ECB chief Executive, said: "We had a very constructive meeting. It was recognised that whilst 2000 was a very successful year in cricket terms, the premature end to some of the Test Matches caused financial problems for the game. "I am delighted that we have agreed the budget for next year and we can now move forward with optimism towards a very exciting 2001 season." The First Class Forum also received an update on the sponsorship situation for 2001. The ECB is at an advanced stage of negotiations with prospective sponsors for the Test Matches, as well as the domestic Trophy and County Championship competitions. It is confident of making relevant announcements early in the New Year. © CricInfo Ltd |
