Dutch treat at Euro Indoors
Dutch treat at Euro Indoors; Off-season news from Slovenia A youthful Netherlands team has taken out the 2000 European Indoor Championships, fending off Greece by four runs in the final last weekend. The Dutch side, which featured several teenagers, faced tough opposition against a Greek team bolstered by South Asian expatriates. The competition meant different things for the different nations, with teams such as Netherlands and Denmark sending youthful squads, while other countries, with an eye on the trophies, sent full strength teams. Observers described the event, held on Spain's Costa Blanca, as well organised. Meanwhile, the Lublijana Dragons Cricket Club's prospects for 2000 are bright following several important off-season developments. Brad Eve provides the latest: "Plans for 2000 are looking very exciting for us. We have now been included in the Austrian league, will be playing in a four city tournament in Prague, we will be returning to Lodi in Italy for their annual four country six-team tournament, we will be hosting Winterbauen from Zurich and a team of Lufthansa staff from the UK!!! We will also be playing in the Austrian Cup and have regular matches against the boys from Zagreb. Also, we have just heard that we have some new exciting sponsors who will be supplying us with some shirts bearing our names (provided there is enough room on the back of the shirt for names like Hierakovic or Alidzanovic!!!). We have been training indoors for the past month and we like our chances of some good results. © 2000 CricInfo Ltd
