Dare Es Salaam Players Dominate Africa Cup

Tanzania has named a 15-member squad for next month's Africa Cricket Association Cup to be held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dar Es Salaam players dominate the squad, with 13 from the national capital, and one each from Arusha and Tanga.

Players are presently in training under coach, Kutbuddin Dossajee.

The concentration of DES players in the squad resulted from wins by two DES teams in Tanzania's regional championship held in Tanga earlier this month.

Arusha finished as runner-up.

Dar es Salaam vs. Tanga -
Tanga 187 all out (Andrew 52, Shakir 60; Taheri 2/24, Yakesh 3/15)
Dar es Salaam 189-4 (Yakesh 72, Viru 60; Shakir 3/40, Andrew 1/15)
Dae es Salaam won by six wickets

Dar es Salaam vs. Arusha -
Arusha 220 all out (Hameed 50, Patel 35, Khanbhai 35; Arif Pali 4/40, Viru 2/25)
Dar es Salaam 221-7 (Subira Hussein 90, Viru 40, Paresh 40; Somji 2/40, Muffadali 2/30)
Dar es Salaam won by three wickets

Tanga vs. Arusha -
Arusha 250-8 (50 overs) (Hameed 75, Frank 70; Shakir 5/50)
Tanga 180 all out (Shakir 75 n.o.; Somji 2/60, Muffadali 6/60)
Arusha won by 70 runs

Meanwhile, on the club scene, the Tanzania Cricket Association organized a 30 overs limited tournament held in November. It was to be completed by the month of Ramadhani (Dec 7 to January 7) when no activities can take place.

Upanga took out the 10 team event, while Aga Khan S.C. (second), Annadil Burhani (third) and Dar Brotherhood (fourth) also took honours.

These clubs qualified for a top-four round-robin after emerging as the top two teams in their five team groups.

Other clubs to compete in the event were Union S.C., Union Friends S.C., Shahab S.C., Ekta S.C, Dar Gymkhana, and Swamibapa.

According to Tanzania CA official Taher Kutesa, "the tournament was named after the Late Father of the Nation Mwalim Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Cup.
