Malik urges Tauqir to reverse ban 3 October 2000
Karachi, Oct 2: Former captain Salim Malik on Sunday met chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and urged him to reverse the life ban imposed on him on the recommendation of Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum. Malik met Lt Gen Tauqir Zia three days after the PCB rejected his second reply to the showcause notice in a month. Malik pleaded to the PCB chairman to also allow him to play in the domestic first-class tournament for Habib Bank. Insiders in the bank said if Malik's ban restrained him from representing his team, the establishment might launch a disciplinary action against its captain. Malik, sources added, also pointed out to the PCB boss that he has been found guilty of corruption in games or series' which Pakistan won. The PCB boss made no promises to Malik but categorically told him to be specific when he replies for the third time to the showcause notice.
