Kerala take first innings points against Hyderabad
Partab Ramchand - 3 October 2000
Opening bowlers Prasanth Chandran and Grand Bell took five wickets
each as Kerala took a surprise 17-run first innings lead over
Hyderabad on the final day of their KSCA Coca Cola Trophy (under-25)
match in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Resuming at 146 for nine, Kerala were all out for 150 in their first
innings. But fine bowling by Chandran and Bell saw Hyderabad struggle
for runs. Wickets fell at regular intervals and the fact that the
highest partnership was just 26 runs (for the fifth and seventh
wickets) tells the story of the ball's dominance. Sanjay Patel and
Khaja Obaidulla top scored with 26 apiece. While Chandran took five
wickets for 38, Bell finished with five for 51. In the second innings,
Kerala were 52 for two when the match ended. Kerala got five points
and Hyderabad three.
