Kuwait: Domestic season begins
7 October 2000

The season began with the traditional Parsons' Six-A-Side knock-out tournament. 18 teams participated. Entertainment City won and Tally CC were the runners up. Lanka Lions CC and Unity Cricketers were the other semifinalists. The Hubara Cricketers of the Kuwait Oil Company staged the tournament.

The Haliburton Classic League the most presigous of the 1st division tournaments in Kuwait features 6 top teams. Al Sayer are the holders and Hubara Cricketers were their runner up last season. Apart from these two strong out fits Unity Cricketers and Gulf SPIC are worthy contenders. Tally CC and Sri Lankan Sports Club make the first division for the first year having been promoted on last year's performance. The tournament kicks off in October with a round robin league of 50 over matches at the Ahmadi Cricket Ground (ACG)

The Baker-Hughes Premier League features 12 teams in two groups playing 30 over matches in the second division league. Group A consists of Gulf Consult CC, Young Sri Lankans' SC, Fedex CC, Ebumac CC, Al Babtain SC and Combat Services Association. Casuals CC, Lanka Lions C, Al Mulla SC, Entertainment City, Union CC and Misheref CC make up Group B. Gulf Consult will compete with Young Sri Lankans for the top berth while Ebomac and Combat Services are new comers in Group A. In Group B Entertainment City appear to be the toughest. Casuals, Union, Lanka Lions and Al Mulla are perhaps of equal strength while Misheref are debutants. The finalists here will be invited to play the Classic League next season.

Both these tournaments are hosted by Hubara Cricketers at the ACG.

The BP Inter-School Tournament took off on Thursday 28th September. The 10 team competition is played in two groups with the final slated for February 1st. Interest in schoolboy cricket has soared with Kuwait's impressive participation in the under 17 Asia Cup in Pakistan last July. They were regarded as the best fielding team in the competition and posted the highest total in the tournament; 296 for 8 in 45 overs against Bahrain. They were also considered to be the 4th strongest team behind only the test playing nations.
