Sidhu, Sardesai among beneficiaries

Abdul Rehman Bukhatir, chairman of the Cricket Benefit Fund Series (CBFS) announced at a press conference in Sharjah on Sunday that former Indian players Dilip Sardesai, Rusi Surti and Navjot Sidhu have been named as beneficiaries in this year's edition of the Champions Trophy in Sharjah, reports UNI.

Bukhatir said that for Sri Lanka, the purse will go to the Players' Benefit Fund. Bukhatir said the three teams will arrive after completing their respective engagements at the ongoing ICC KnockOut tournament at Nairobi. The CBFS has also appointed former Indian batsman Mohinder Amarnath as a member and he will co-ordinate with CBFS coordinator and former Pakistan captain Asif Iqbal.

Sharjah Tournament: Winners take away $50,000

India take on Sri Lanka in the tri-nation tournament in Sharjah on October 20. This was announced by the CBFS chairman Abdul Rehman Bukhatir in Sharjah on Sunday. He said that a total prize money of $100,000 has been earmarked for this year's competition. The winners get $50,000, the losers $30,000 and the team finishing third $10,000.

Bukhatir added that The man-of-the-match will receive $1,000 during the preliminary rounds while in the final they will get $1,500. The man-of-the-series will get $3,500. In addition there will be prizes of $1,000 each for the fastest 50, best bowler and best fielder. Also, $1,000 will be at stake for the super sixes, according to UNI.

Vijay Dahiya to lead Delhi

New Indian wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya has been appointed the captain of the Delhi side for the 2000-01 Ranji Trophy season while Rahul Sanghvi will be his deputy. Dahiya replaces former Indian batsman Ajay Sharma who has been axed from the squad. Another Indian player Nikhil Chopra has also been omitted from the side. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) selection committee Chetan Chauhan (chairman), Madan Lal and Sunil Khanna have shortlisted 20 probables for nets starting at Ferozshah Kotla from Monday. Delhi's first game is against Services from October 30.

The probables: Vijay Dahiya (captain), Rahul Sanghvi (vice-captain), Aakash Chopra, Ashu Dani, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Mithun Manhas, Sandeep Angurala, Amit Bhandari, Ashish Nehra, Robin Singh Jr, Devender Sharma (wk), Vishal Sharma, Harender Chaudhary, Amit Suman, Pradeep Chawla, Pankaj Joshi, Sohail Rauf, Sanjay Gill and Nitish Malik.
