Dawes, Perren drafted for Perth Queensland Cricket - 9 October 2000
Pace bowler Joe Dawes and batsman Clinton Perren today answered an SOS from the Queensland selectors following the withdrawal of Scott Muller and Geoff Foley from the Bulls side to take on the Western Warriors in Perth this week. Muller was ruled out today after injuring his knee, ironically while undergoing a fitness test to confirm his recovery from a side strain, which he had shown every sign of passing. Foley has been laid low with a virus since Saturday and missed yesterday's Mercantile Mutual Cup win over the Southern Redbacks at Allan Border Field. The XXXX Bulls, which will be bolstered by the return of Andrew Symonds from Australian One Day duty in Kenya, will meet a full-strength Warriors line-up in the opening Pura Cup match of the summer. The Warriors team will be named tonight but will contain Australian players Adam Gilchrist, Damien Martyn, Justin Langer and be captained by Tom Moody. Muller's absence will thrust extra responsibility onto the shoulders of young pace bowler Ashley Noffke, who will be playing his first match at the WACA. However the Sunshine Coast product is coming off a man of the match performance in yesterday's Mercantile Mutual Cup match and is highly rated by his peers. XXXX Queensland Bulls v Western Warriors, Oct 13-16, WACA: Stuart Law (c), Matthew Hayden, Jimmy Maher, Martin Love, Andrew Symonds, Clinton Perren, Wade Seccombe, Andy Bichel, Adam Dale, Ashley Noffke, Joe Dawes, Matthew Anderson (twelfth man to be named). © 2000 Queensland Cricket
