Steve James confirmed as new Glamorgan captain Staff and Agencies - 10 October 2000
Steve James has been confirmed as the new captain of Glamorgan. He replaces Matthew Maynard who stood down at the end of last season, having led Glamorgan to a Lord's final and promotion to division one of the county championship. "I consider it a real honour to captain Glamorgan," James announced. "I'll be working as hard as I possibly can, both on and off the field, to build on the fantastic job Matthew has done and to help bring further success to the club." Glamorgan chairman, Gerard Elias added, "Although Matthew Maynard has been an outstanding captain for the past five years we are very well blessed in the quality of senior players we have on the staff and in our view Steve James is the ideal choice to take over." "He is vastly experienced, has stood in for Matthew on several occasions and sets an excellent example to the rest of the squad in all facets of the game." © CricInfo Ltd.
