Board to meet player reps for finance talks
Staff and Agencies - 15 October 2000

ECB will meet players' representatives next week to hear their concerns over the £3 million shortfall in the Board's annual revenue which is set to have an impact across the game in England.

Officials of the Professional Cricketers Association will sit down with senior members of the ECB to express their fears over possible wage cuts.

But David Graveney, chief executive of the PCA, insisted their members were not being ``greedy'' and claims their concerns about cash cuts centre around their schemes for insurance and re-training of players after their retirement from the game.

``Our main concerns are not about the players salaries or anything like that,'' he stressed. ``We are more concerned about the level of funding we're likely to receive from board towards things like insurance and re-training.

``This is not about greedy players. I know revenue is reduced because of the number of two and three-day Test matches and we want to meet the Board so we can explain our thoughts and they can do the same.''
