Fresh arrest warrant issued on Bedi

Press Trust of India (PTI) reported on Saturday that a Patiala court has issued a fresh arrest warrant against former Indian captain Bishen Singh Bedi regarding the defamation case filed by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).

PTI said that Judicial Magistrate MD Dillon order the issuance of a fresh warrant against Bedi for November 18 since the one issued earlier on October 11 for October 14 could not be served on him. The agency also reported that the Dronacharya awardee Desh Prem Azad and former Indian opener Navjot Sidhu are among the eight witnesses of the PCA.

The PCA secretary MP Pandove had filed the defamation suit against Bedi, former coach of the State Ranji team, charging him of irregularities in fulfilling his contract and making alleged defamatory statements against him in an interview to the media.

Rajput to accept coaching offer only after evaluation

Former Indian opener Lalchand Rajput who has been appointed coach of the Bihar junior team till November, said on Saturday that he would be in a position to accept the offer for a longer term only after evaluating the players' performances.

Speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI), Rajput felt that though the under-14 and under-19 teams possessed sound technique, they needed to polish their attitude, approach and mental strength for better performances.

Rajput, who played for Assam during the last season in the Ranji Trophy, said that he would consider the option of switching over to Bihar this season, if the State Association made an offer.

Mosin Basha to lead Andhra under-14 team

D Mosin Basha has been named the captain of the Andhra Pradesh under-14 team for the newly introduced inter-state tournament slated to begin next month. Andhra's first match of the tournament will be against Kerala from November 1 to 3 at Visakhapatanam.

Speaking to reporters in Vijayawada, the secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association, N Venkat Rao, said that venue for the match had to be shifted from Vijayawada in view of the clash of dates with the Andhra-Kerala Ranji Trophy match.

Sreekumar Nair to lead Kerala in Ramachandra Rao Trophy

The Kerala Cricket Association has named Sreekumar Nair to lead the Kerala Under-22 side for the South Zone League P Ramachandra Rao Trophy Tournament slated to commence on the October 19. Kerala are to meet Andhra in their first match at Kakinada from October 19.
