PwC Ratings: Ganguly back to number one
PricewaterhouseCoopers Media Release - 16 October 2000

Sourav Ganguly's century in the final of the ICC KnockOut was not enough to bring victory to India, but it has returned him to Number One in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Ratings for One Day cricket. This is the second time this year that Ganguly has moved above Michael Bevan.

Meanwhile Roger Twose is emerging as New Zealand's one day batting star - not something that those outside New Zealand might have forecast. Or inside New Zealand, for that matter. A string of half centuries this year have seen Twose climb to a deserved third place in the one day ratings. Sachin Tendulkar's good form have seen him rise once again above 700 points, though he remains fourth (Tendulkar is of course number one in the PwC Test Ratings).

Saeed Anwar has made the most substantial climb during the ICC KnockOut, his two centuries lifting him 15 places to 9th, and Graeme Hick is England's highest rated batsman at tenth - confirming his reputation as a world class one day player.

There are no significant changes in the bowling. Glenn McGrath remains top, and with Alan Mullally out through injury, Muttiah Muralitharan has moved up to second. England still has four bowlers in the top ten. That is a fair reflection of their combination of wicket taking and economy over the last year, though there was not much evidence of either when England played South Africa in Nairobi.
