Amit Mishra gives Haryana the upper hand on opening day Natarajan Sriram - 16 October 2000
Helped by a destructive spell of bowling by Amit Mishra, Haryana bundled out Jammu and Kashmir for 128 in the first innings of their Cooch Behar Trophy North Zone League match at the MA Stadium in Jammu on Sunday. Haryana took the honours on the first day as they ran up 61 for no loss in 16 overs in reply. Opting to bat, J&K made a circumspect start with openers M Ashraf (19) and A Jalani (9) putting on 29 runs in 15.3 overs. Jalani fell to a catch by Ishan Ganda off the first change bowler Amit Mishra. Ashraf (19) then was caught by Agarwal off Mishra. Three overs later new batsman Sathyajit Singh (1) was trapped leg before by Nitin Agarwal. Imraj Thakur (10) and V Kaw then took the score to 44 when Thakur was caught behind by Bisla off Agarwal. Thereafter, Mishra ran through the J&K lower order to finish with six wickets for 21 off 24 overs. None of the J&K batsmen except A Mongotra had a clue about playing Mishra. Mongotra during a 137 minute stay faced 111 balls and helped J&K go past the 100 run mark. In reply, Haryana openers M Bisla (35) and Bhuvnesh Sharma (25) played the J&K attack with ease to give Haryana a sound start to their first innings. © CricInfo
