Paras Dogra, Nitesh Kumar claim honours on Day One NP Venkateswaran - 19 October 2000
After winning the toss, Himachal Pradesh were bowled out for 293 on the first day of their North Zone league tie in the Cooch Behar Trophy against Delhi at the Ferozeshah Kotla yesterday. At one stage, Himachal were 56 for 4 in the 16th over with new ball bowler Nitesh Kumar scalping all the four. Then Prince Angaria (21) who came in at the fall of the fifth wicket of Shashi Kumar (11) joined Paras Dogra to produce a partnership of 63 runs for the sixth wicket. Both Shashi and Prince got out to seamer Kunal Lal. Prashant Kumar (23) who came in next, was run out by Yogesh Sachdeva after putting a stand of 40 for the seventh wicket with Dogra. The latter grew in confidence with the company of Mohan Singh for the eighth wicket which produced the best stand of the day worth 93 runs. Mohan Singh faced 88 balls for his 46 runs with seven boundaries before getting out to Nitesh Kumar who came back to claim his fifth wicket of the innings and finish with figures of 20-5-77-5. After adding 16 runs for the ninth wicket with Abhishek Gujral, Dogra was finally out after compiling a well made 110 which came off 211 balls with the help of eighteen hits to the fence. Then the last wicket pair of Abhishek Gujral (8) and Ankit Aggarwal (0 not out) added just seven runs before Vivek Khurana scalped Abhishek. Khurana ended the innings with 22.2-5-52-2 while Kunal Lal ended with figures of two for 65.
