Harvey to replace Wates in Warriors one-day side
WACA - 20 October 2000
Western Warriors all-rounder Kade Harvey will play in today’s Mercantile Mutual Cup clash against the Southern Redbacks at the WACA after the withdrawal of Darren Wates through injury.
Wates, the winner of last year’s Mercantile Mutual Cup best new talent award, strained his side at the Warriors final training session at the WACA last night.
Harvey (25) has played 29 one-day matches for WA and was a member of last year’s Mercantile Mutual Cup winning side. He has scored 189 runs at 18.90 and taken 44 wickets at 22.68.
Wates’ injury will be further assessed later today, but he may be able to bat for South Perth if required tomorrow (day two of round two of the Sunsmart League) against Fremantle.
Brendon Julian will replace Wates in the BGC WA second Xl side to clash with New South Wales in the ACB Cup at the WACA from Monday, 23 to Thursday, 26 October, 2000.
Today’s Mercantile Mutual Cup match begins at 2.30pm.
