Another chance for Grayson as England keep faith Staff and Agencies - 20 October 2000
England won the toss and decided to bat in the first match of their Pakistan tour against The Governor's XI. They stuck with the side beaten by South Africa in the ICC KnockOut, so Paul Grayson has another opportunity to impress. The man he replaced, Ashley Giles, is said to be making good progress with his fitness and is likely to figure in the one-day international series. Mark Alleyne and Vikram Solanki, who played for The Rest of Asia v Pakistan on Wednesday night, join Hoggard and Giles as spectators for this game. The Governor's X1, captained by Rashid Latif, contains nine players with international experience and six full Test players. England: N Hussain (Essex, capt), AJ Stewart (Surrey, wkt), ME Trescothick (Somerset), GA Hick (Worcestershire), GP Thorpe (Surrey), A Flintoff (Lancashire), C White (Yorkshire), MA Ealham (Kent), (AR Caddick (Somerset), D Gough (Yorkshire), AP Grayson (Essex), © CricInfo Ltd.
