Saha, Debnath help Tripura take first day's honours Natarajan Sriram - 21 October 2000
Tripura ended a fruitful day on the field scoring 11 for no loss after bundling out Bengal for 190 in their first innings on the opening day of their East Zone Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) Tournament match at the PTG ground in Narsingarh on Friday. Opting to bat, Bengal made a sedate start with openers skipper AP Chakraborty (11) and Arindam Das (26) adding 37 runs for the first wicket. Chakraborthy was the first to be dismissed falling leg before to Routh. His partner Arindam did not last long and with no run added to the total, he was caught by RS Ghosh off Tushar Saha. Then Subhamoy Das (42) and A Nandi (32) added 68 runs for the third wicket off 108 balls. Nandi became Saha's next victim when he gave the bowler a return catch. Das was dismissed soon after, caught by Gosh off Debnath. A Sarkar scored a fighting 46 but Saha and Debnath ran through the middle and lower order to bundle out Bengal. In reply, Tripura got to face just two overs during which the openers S Paul (6) and Sandip Banerjee (4) managed to come through unbeaten. © CricInfo
