ICC confirms Officials for upcoming Internationals

ICC Media Release October 23, 2000

The ICC has announced details of the overseas umpires and referees nominated for imminent series in South Africa, Pakistan and India.

Former Pakistan Test player Talat Ali will referee the six match One Day International series between South Africa and New Zealand, which runs from October 20 to 4 November.

Naushad Ali, Pakistan, will referee the following Test series, along with ICC umpires Arani Jayaprakash from India (1stTest Bloemfontein, 17–21 November), Ian Robinson, Zimbabwe (2nd Test, Port Elizabeth, 30 November–4 December) and George Sharp, England (3rd Test, Johannesburg, 8– 12 December).

The three match ODI series involving Pakistan and England (24 to 30 October) will be refereed by Barry Jarman, the former Australian wicketkeeper.

Umpires for both one day series will be local appointments (no overseas umpires are required for One Day Internationals).

The Pakistan v England Test series will be refereed by Sri Lanka's Ranjan Madugalle. Overseas umpires will be Darrell Hair, Australia, 1st Test, Lahore, (15 – 19 November) and Steve Bucknor of the West Indies who will take charge of the 2nd Test in Faisalabad (29 November to 3 December) and the 3rd Test in Karachi, (7 – 11 December)

Zimbabwe's two Test visit to India will be refereed by Barry Jarman, with England's John Hampshire (1st Test, Delhi, 18 to 22 November) and Steve Dunne from New Zealand, ( 2nd Test, Nagpur, 25 to 29 November), officiating on the field of play.
