WP hope to have Easterns in a spin
Michael Owen-Smith - 24 October 2000

Western Province are expected to field both frontline spinners, Paul Adams and Claude Henderson, in their opening Supersport Series cricket match against Eastern Province at St George's Park on Friday.

The selectors have named a squad of 12, including fast bowler Antonio Mullins, to cover all tactical options.

EP have the fastest opening attack in the country in Nantie Hayward and the rapidly improving Mfuneko Ngam.

But they also have a far less experienced batting line-up than WP and a green top is unlikely to be on the cards.

Province B are at home this weekend against Free State. The WP team includes some interesting new caps including teenage fast bowler Siraj Abrahams, top order batsman Jonathan McLean and seamer Mark de Stadler.
