Gen Tauqir apologizes to Karachiites Samiul Hasan - 26 October 2000
The PCB chairman Lt Gen Tauqir Zia apologized to the Karachiities and promised to carry out investigation into the choas which marked the first one-day international between Pakistan and England at the National Stadium on Tuesday. The general, speaking to Dawn from Mangla, said he has been deeply hurt to read media reports about the mismanagement. "On behalf of the PCB, I convey my deep concern over the management lapses that caused undue problems for the cricket fans. I am extremely sorry and take the responsibility as head of the institution," the general said. "I have already ordered an investigations and those found guilty of mismanagement will not be spared. I cannot tolerate indiscipline and public inconvenience because of our mistakes, Gen Zia said. Zia said that he has summoned the entire National Stadium staff to the Qadhafi Stadium.
