Probe into World Cup matches 27 October 2000
The Chief Executive's Secretariat has received the letter from presidency asking for appointment of a judge to investigate the 1999 World Cup matches and former ICC umpire Javed Akhtar, official source told Dawn.
The prerogative of reappointment of Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum is with Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf who will either appoint Justice Qayyum as requested by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) or give the assignment to someone else, the source said.
