Sebastianites come back to earth with a bump
Staff and Agencies - 29 October 2000

Having won the U23 Premier League Tournament, Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club, were given a rude awakening when Galle CC gave them a monumental thrashing in their first game of the Premier League Limited Overs tournament today.

Sebastianites won the toss and elected to bat at the Police Grounds this morning but were bowled out for a meager 81 runs. They weren’t helped by the fact that Prassana Jayawardene left the club after the U23 tournament to play for Sinhalese Sports Club. Three other players were not available for selection this weekend. Their captain, Nimesh Perera, has plenty to sort out.

Only three players reached double figures. Nimesh Perera top scored with just 19 runs from 37 deliveries. Pasau Wanasinghe followed his impressive batting performance yesterday with three wickets today from just 7 overs. M.D.V.P. Perera was also in the wickets, picking up 3 for 25 from his allocated 10 overs.

In reply, Galle CC reached the required target in the 26th over. Despite losing three wickets they never looked like losing.
