Tamil Union secure easy eight wicket victory over Antonians

A disappointing display of batting by Antonians Sports Club resulted in them losing to Tamil Union by 8 wickets in their Premier Limited Overs Tournament match at P. Sara Stadium today.

Antonians, who elected to bat first after winning the toss, were bowled out for a meager 107 in 40 overs. The only batsman to make an impression was J. Perera, who scored 39 in 86 deliveries with 3 boundaries. Only three other batsmen managed to get to double figures.

Niroshan Bandarathileke bowled excellently to capture 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his 10 overs. He was ably supported by R. Jayaratne and B. Jeganathan, who chipped in with 3 wickets apiece.

In reply, Tamil Union lost just 2 wickets. R. Peries top scored with 42 from 63 balls, including 5 boundaries, while G. Wijekoon helped himself to 39 in 65 balls.
