Dawn Pakistan to play in Malaysian tri-series
31 October 2000

Rawalpindi, Oct 30: Pakistan will take part in the three-nation one- day tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, next year if India refuses to undertake this winter's tour.

PCB chairman Lt-Gen Tauqir Zia said he had accepted an offer from Malaysian prince Tunko Abdur Rahman on the condition that Indian tour of Pakistan did not materialize.

Zia said the series will be played in the first week of January next year and before the series against Bangladesh.

Zia added that he has granted permission to Rashid Latif to organize a three-match series in California next year. He said he has allowed his players to play in the matches most likely to be against the rest of Asian players.

He announced that the PCB would refund the money to the ticket-holders who were denied entry at the three stadia. "For refund, the spectators will have to contact the local PCB offices with un-used valid tickets."

The PCB chief said he has given Inzamam-ul-Haq a one-year contract at Rs 15,000 a month. He said Inzamam would now be on PCB's pay-roll and has been asked to looked after the coaching and development work in Multan, his home town.
