Simon Francis injured his back in the same match and was seeing a specialist today (Wednesday) and Lawrence Prittipaul is still troubled by his injured shoulder, but is making good progress.

Hampshire give a debut to their overseas all-rounder Neil Johnson, and James Hamblin the seam bowler who has been performing well in pre-season matches,

Sean Udal despite his injury is travelling to Edgbaston, but even if he passes a fitness test is unlikely to play.

The ECB have helped Hampshire in their preperation for the opening of their new ground, by ensuring their first home fixture, against Essex in The Benson & Hedges Cup is not untill 2nd May.

They visit Edbaston this weekend, then follow this with a 3-day friendly at The Parks against Oxford UCCE next week, then to Old Trafford and Canterbury.
