Sir Paul Condon and two members of the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) will be in Sri Lanka this Saturday (28th April 2001) as part of the on-going investigation into corruption in cricket. Sir Paul will join senior investigator Jeff Rees and support manager Bob Smalley for three days, arriving back in the UK on Tuesday 1st May.

The ACU will meet with cricket officials, ministers and players as well as Desmond Fernando, Sri Lanka's special anti-corruption investigator. Specifically, the ACU team will be focusing on allegations made against Sri Lankan players in the Indian CBI report into cricket malpractice.

Commenting on the visit, Sir Paul said: "The CBI report has been a major step forward in the fight against corruption in cricket. A significant part of our investigation has been to follow-up allegations in areas over which the CBI has no jurisdiction - namely the non-Indian players. With the help and co-operation of the people we will be meeting in Sri Lanka, we are looking forward to moving our global investigation forward."
