PCB Advisory Council Meeting decisions and approvals Pakistan Cricket Board - 28 April 2001
A meeting of the Advisory Council of the Pakistan Cricket Board was held here today at the Gaddafi Stadium under the chairmanship of Lt Gen Tauqir Zia. It was attended by the following members of the Council: Mr Waqar Hasan, Mr Rameez Raja, Mr Javed Miandad, Mr Wasim Azhar and Brig Munawar A Rana, Director PCB. The Council gave formal approval to the management consisting of Mr Yawar Saeed, Manager, Mr Mohammad Ahmad, Assistant Manager, Mr Daryl Foster as the Bowling Coach/Consultant (for the duration of the test series), Dale Naylor as Physio cum Trainer was approved. Both will join the team in London. The squad will be announced later. The Manager and Coach presented their reports on the recent tour of Malaysia which was undertaken by the Under-19 Team. Note was taken of some outstanding performances made by the youngsters. It was decided to honour the team by holding a ceremony and giving them commemorative plaques and some cash awards. The Final Report received from the University of Western Australia on the bowling action of Shoaib Akhtar was presented at the Council Meeting which expressed satisfaction that the bowler has been cleared and was ready to resume his career without any shadow. The visit of the curator Andy Atkinson from U.K. was also discussed and the council was briefed on his activities and future programme. Another matter which came under discussion was the publication of the History of Pakistan Cricket and the project was approved. It will be undertaken by Dr Nauman Niaz. A proposal taken up pertained to the holding of a National Inter-provincial tournament. The matter was discussed and the matter will be worked out in more details later.
