After seeing fellow championship contenders Kent score 381 for 4 at Canterbury Somerset Coach told me "It's been a very long day for us, especially as we were one bowler short for two sessions after Richard Johnson was called up to the England squad but they stuck to the task well. It really has been hard out there on a flat track."

Regarding Johnson's call up he said, "I'm very happy for Johnno and for Somerset that he has been called up for England."
