De Vos goes on loan to North West 6 August 2001
The Northerns Cricket Union has decided to release all-rounder Dirkie De Vos from the Nashua Titans, on a one year loan agreement, to North West for the 2001/2002 cricket season. De Vos, who was not a regular name in the Titans starting line up during the past season, will be able to forge his career at first-class level on a more permanent basis. "Dirkie will be sorely missed at the Nashua Titans this season, but I certainly hope that with this opportunity he will be able to set up his career and future while on loan to North West," said the Titans coach Dave Nosworthy. "The idea of sharing fringe contracted players on a loan system with other provinces is a very good option. Dirkie, I believe, will no doubt be able to establish himself as a genuine all-rounder in South African cricket."
John Openshaw, the North West CEO was also excited to have gained the services of De Vos. "Dirkie, a product of North west, will definitely strengthen the North West team this season and we look forward to his services. Northerns Cricket Union should be commended for their unselfish approach in their decision to loan one of their players to North West. It is this sort of co-operation that will ensure that cricket throughout the country will be strengthened," said Openshaw.
