Hampshire reward Morris with new contract Ralph Dellor - 3 December 2001
Hampshire have rewarded pace bowler Alex Morris with a new two-year contract for his contribution towards helping the county to promotion as runners-up in Division Two of the CricInfo Championship. It was four years ago that the 25 year-old decided to leave his native Yorkshire and move south three years after making his first-class debut. The migration has been highly successful for the former England Under 19 captain. He took 51 first-class wickets last season at 28 each, while his useful 423 runs came at a fraction under 25 an innings. Director of cricket Tim Tremlett said: "Alex had a tremendous last season with us, making key contributions with both bat and ball and this is a reward for his performances." Morris's younger brother, Zac, also made the move from Yorkshire to Hampshire, but he was released from the staff at the end of last season. © CricInfo
