Ranji round-up Staff Reporter - 13 December 2001
*Tamil Nadu plays out a slow third day Tamil Nadu inched their way to 276/7 at the end of the third day of their Ranji Trophy league match against Hyderabad at Chennai on Wednesday. Overnight on 107/2, Tamil Nadu added only 169 runs in the day. This was due largely to batsmen taking up a defensive attitude when the side was reeling at 128/5. Sridharan Sharath and TR Arasu rescued Tamil Nadu from that position, with Sharath falling only with the score on 245, having put on 117 runs. He made 69 off 203 balls, striking seven fours. The only other wicket to fall in the day was that of Ashish Kapoor. At the close of play, Arasu was unbeaten on 68 off 230, while MR Srinivas was unbeaten on 4 off 42 balls. For Hyderabad, Narender Pal Singh took 4-84. *Goa has good chance at victory Overcoming their first-innings debacle, Goa surged back into the game in their Ranji Trophy league match against Kerala at Panaji on Wednesday. Having Kerala overnight at 6/2, Goa did not let up on the pressure. Barring C Prashanth Menon, who made 55 off 148 balls, and Ajay Kudva (44 off 120), none of the Kerala batsmen was allowed to convert a start into a significant score. Kerala were bowled out for 210, with Narayan Kambli taking 4-49 and Avinash Aware taking 5-67. At stumps on the third day, Goa were 33/0, chasing a fourth-innings total of 213 for victory. © CricInfo
