Karnataka register nine-wicket win Staff Reporter - 28 December 2001
Karnataka chased a fourth-innings target of 65 with few hiccups to register a nine-wicket win over Goa in their Ranji Trophy league match at Bangalore on Thursday. Goa, resuming at 159/7, were bowled out for 198 in their second innings. Sunil Joshi was the architect of Karnataka's fine bowling performance, taking 4-47. For the visitors, BKP Misquin was the best batsman on display, making an unbeaten 41 off 103 balls. Chasing their target, the home side lost skipper J Arunkumar halfway there, but KS Ponnappa and Barrington Rowland saw Karnataka safely through to a victory that gives them eight points by virtue of an outright win.
