Karachi: Pakistan remained on course for a semi-final berth in the Under-17 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament at Dhaka (Bangladesh) with their third successive victory in Group 'B' on Saturday. Pakistan, this time, trounced Singapore by nine wickets at the Bangladesh Krira Shixa Protisthan Ground (BKSP-2) in Dhaka's Savar locality, according to details available here. Skipper Salman Butt and Khalid Latif shared a century opening partnership of 115 inside 12 overs. Salman, who was named Man-of-the-Match, struck an unbeaten 57 off 35 deliveries with 13 fours. Khalid hit 45 off 35 balls with the help of eight boundaries. Earlier, Singapore mustered 116 in 44.4 overs after being sent into bat. Raza Zaidi contributed 22 off 50 balls. Azam Hussain and Agha Tahir captured two wickets apiece for 16 and 18 runs respectively. Meanwhile, India, making their debut in the tournament, achieved their second win in as many days in Group 'A' with a seven-wicket success against Malaysia on Sunday at BKSP-2 Ground. Chasing a modest 144, India reached their target in 23.3 overs with opener Shikhar Dhawan remaining undefeated on 64 off 73 balls with 11 boundaries. On Saturday, the Indians crushed United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 257 runs at J.N. Hall Ground in their opening match. Deepak Chougale narrowly missed a century by one run a India amassed 325 for eight in their 45 overs. Chougale's 99 off 71 balls was laced with 12 fours and one six. Stand-in captain and wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel stroked 11 boundaries in his knock of 74 off 86 balls. Mohnish Mishra blasted a whirlwind 68 off only 41 balls with eight fours and three sixes. UAE managed a paltry 68 in 34.5 overs with Kuldeep Rawat and Rakesh Mohanty taking three wickets each for 14 and 11 runs respectively. Nepal defeated Kuwait by five wickets in a Group 'B' match on Saturday at BKSP-1 Ground. Sent into bat, Kuwait were all out for 127 in 41.2 overs. Opener Arnav Dutta slammed three fours and a six while scoring 31 off 46 deliveries. Opener Monik Kumar Shrestha was run out for 43 as Nepal completed their win in 36.2 overs. © Dawn
