We stuck to our plan and it worked: Warne
27 February 2001
Star Australian leg spinner Shane Warne, who picked up four wickets in the Indian first innings on the opening day of the first Test at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai today, said after the day's play that he and his team mates stuck to a plan and it worked perfectly.
Warne told reporters "we had a plan for every Indian batsman and it worked against all of them except Sachin (Tendulkar)who hit us all over the ground. Winning the toss and electing to field was a bit different as Steve (Waugh) perhaps thought with three fast bowlers we could put pressure on the Indian batsmen and that is what happened," the blonde haired bamboozler said.
"When I came on to bowl, I was surprised to see the ball turn and bounce a lot and I think the wicket was a perfectbeauty as lots of good shots were played by the Indians and atthe same time eleven wickets fell on day one," Warne added.
