Wicket-keeper bowls Karori to dramatic Milo knock-out victory
Mark Lane - 23 February 2001
The Karori Normal School Black Caps have provided some great cricket entertainment over the last week. The boys' Milo Cup team played St Marks Church School last week in a round 1, zone 3 nail biter. St Marks made 144 in their 35 overs (Sam Donaldson 3 for 26) and in reply Karori Normal School drew level with the final ball of their innings (Ali Romanos 58 not out).
To find a winner in this knock out competition a bowl out is held, with each team nominating five players to bowl one ball each at the wickets, with the team hitting the most being the winner. With one ball remaining and the scores tied, Karori's wicket keeper Sam Wilson took off his pads and gloves and ran in to knock over the stumps to win a famous victory for Karori Normal School.
Karori Normal School's next game is against Kelburn Normal.
