Fast bowler Damien Fleming will join the Australian one-day squad as cover for Ian Harvey after the all-rounder contracted a minor viral illness on Wednesday.
Harvey developed a sore throat and a skin eruption as Australia practiced ahead of its first match in the Carlton Series, against the West Indies at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday.
The all-rounder was examined by a specialist on Wednesday afternoon and although the condition is not thought to be serious enough to prevent him from being available for selection, Fleming has been drafted in as a precaution.
Fleming, who played for Australia A against the West Indies in Adelaide on Tuesday, will arrive in Melbourne on Wednesday evening.
Providing Harvey is fit, Fleming will fly back to Brisbane to rejoin Australia A ahead of its one-day match with Zimbabwe at The Gabba on Friday.
Fleming was the most successful bowler in Australia A's four-wicket loss to the West Indies in Adelaide, taking 3-18.
Tickets for the Carlton Series match at the MCG and the Australia A fixture against Zimbabwe are still available through Ticketmaster7 on 13 61 22.
